About Ms. Whitesides
My love for Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) started when I was in high school. My freshman year I took a introduction class called Teen Living. During my high school career I took all of the FACS classes I could take. I loved the FACS content so much that after High School, I attend North Carolina Central University (NCCU) and majored in FACS. While at NCCU, I took classes in all areas of FACS but I liked Foods and Nutrition courses the most. I have always had a love for food and food preparation. The classes I took in college sparked my interest even more. The fact that I could have a career teaching my love for foods pushed me in the direction of obtaining my teaching license. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in FACS, I went back to NCCU to obtain my NC teaching license. In the Fall of 2010, I started my first teaching job where I was able to focus on my love for teaching foods and most important preparing students for a career in the food industry.
